The Manufacturing Process Flow:
The use of the paper cup fan is central to the modern cup-making production line:
Step 1: Raw Material (Roll Stock)
The process starts with a large roll of paperboard, already coated
with PE or PLA.
Step 2: Printing & Die-Cutting
The roll is fed through a printing press. After printing, it goes
through a die-cutting machine, which punches out the familiar fan
shape and punches the "blanks" for the cup bottoms.
Step 3: Fan Stock Handling
The flat, die-cut fans are stacked and fed into an automatic
cup-making machine.
Step 4: Cup Forming (The Key Step)
Inside the cup-making machine, the solution unfolds:
A fan is picked up and wrapped around a mandrel (a metal cone).
The longitudinal side seam is heated and sealed, creating the cup's body.
The pre-cut bottom disc is fed into the bottom of the cup body.
The rim of the cup body is curled outwards and heated, melting the PE/PLA coating to create a watertight seal with the bottom disc.
