A furniture shredder is a mechanical device specifically designed for processing waste furniture and bulky waste. It breaks the material into uniform small pieces or particles through physical processes such as shearing, tearing, and squeezing. Its core function is to reduce the volume of waste furniture, recycle it as a resource, and facilitate its transportation. Working Principle
Power Drive:
Two blade shafts are driven by hydraulic or electric motors to
rotate in opposite directions, creating relative motion. The moving
blades on the blade shafts work together with the fixed blades (or
spacers) to generate shear force.
Crushing Mechanism:
Shearing Action: The adjacent cutting edges of the moving blades create shearing,
cutting the material.
Tearing Action: The blade tips of the moving blades contact the cylindrical
surface of the spacer, tearing the material fibers.
Crushing Action: The torque and speed difference of the blade shafts create a
tearing force, breaking tough or sticky materials. Discharge
Control:
The crushed material is discharged through a screen, with particle
size determined by the screen's aperture. Unqualified material is
repeatedly crushed within the machine chamber until it meets the
required particle size.

The bulky waste shredding and sorting line efficiently processes
large pieces of waste, enabling resource recycling and harmless
disposal. The general process flow is as follows:
Pretreatment
Bulky waste is manually or mechanically loaded onto a conveyor for
initial sorting, removing non-trash items (such as rocks and large
metal objects) and hazardous materials (such as glass and sharp
objects) to prevent damage to downstream equipment.
Shredding
The pre-treated bulky waste is conveyed by a conveyor to a
shredder. The shredder uses the shearing, squeezing, and tearing
forces generated by the rotating blades to break the bulky waste
into smaller pieces, typically 5-30 cm in size, for subsequent
sorting. Common shredded items include used sofas, mattresses,
furniture, and large appliance casings.
Magnetic Separation
After shredding, the material enters a magnetic separator, where
the magnet's attraction to ferromagnetic materials (such as nails,
wire, and metal parts) separates the ferrous metal for recycling.
Eddy Current Separation
After magnetic separation, the material enters an eddy current
separator. This device uses an alternating magnetic field to
generate eddy currents in non-ferrous metals. The magnetic field
generated by the eddy currents interacts with the original magnetic
field, repelling the non-ferrous metals and separating them. It
primarily separates non-ferrous metals such as copper and aluminum.
Wind separation
The airflow generated by the fan separates lighter materials (such as plastics and fabrics) from heavier materials (such as stones and ceramics) by taking advantage of differences in material density and suspension speed. The light materials are transported to a collection device, while the heavier materials fall into other collection areas.
