What is the key function of a boiler membrane wall?
Forms gas-tight walls via welded fins while performing heat transfer/load-bearing dual functions.
Functions
(1) Absorb the radiation heat of the high temperature flame or flue gas in the furnace, and heat the water into saturated steam;
(2) Protect the furnace wall, simplify the structure of the furnace wall, and reduce the weight of the furnace wall, mainly because the water wall absorbs the radiant heat in the furnace and reduces the temperature of the furnace wall;
(3) Absorb the heat in the furnace and cool the flue gas to the temperature allowed by the furnace outlet, which is beneficial to reduce the slag formation in the furnace and prevent the slag formation at the furnace outlet;
(4) The water wall absorbs radiant heat at high temperature in the furnace, and the heat transfer effect is good, so it can reduce the boiler steel consumption and the boiler cost.
Product Description
The membrane water walls in a boiler is any furnace wall that is comprised of refractory and tubes in a water-tube boiler. The tubes are evenly spaced and generally connect to headers which in turn are connected back to the main generating bank of the boiler. They serve a two fold purpose here in that they capture heat that would otherwise escape to the atmosphere and help heat the water in the boiler. And they also help keep the refractory cool. This prevents spalling of the refractory.
