1. Application: ZF 6HP/8HP or similar, handling 4th-6th gear shifts under high torque (500–700Nm).

2. Design:

   • 15-spline hardened steel shaft (SAE 4140, 60–64 HRC) for direct hub engagement.

   • 4-clutch pack (3 friction + 4 steel plates, 0.5–0.7mm clearance new).

3. Critical Specs:

   • Drum OD: 120–125mm, anodized for thermal resistance (max 200°C).

   • Spline tolerance: ±0.03mm (wear >0.1mm causes slippage).

4. Failure Modes:

   • Spline shear (fatigue under abrupt shifts).

   • Drum warping (overheat cycles).

   • Seal blowout (pressure loss in boost phase).

Note: Requires low-viscosity ATF (e.g., ZF LG8) for optimal clutch modulation.
