The variable frequency control cabinet for overhead cranes is a core component of modern crane electrical systems. It utilizes variable frequency speed regulation technology to achieve precise, efficient, and safe control of crane operations (trolley, trolley, and hoist). Its key features are as follows:

1. Core Function: Variable Frequency Speed Regulation

Smooth Start/Stop: This replaces traditional starting methods using series resistors or eddy current brakes. By varying the frequency and voltage of the output power supply, it achieves stepless, smooth acceleration from zero to the set speed, and smooth deceleration from the set speed back to zero. This significantly reduces mechanical shock and extends the life of the structure, transmission mechanism, and wire rope.

Precise Speed Control: The operating speed can be precisely set and adjusted across the full speed range (typically 0-100% of rated speed, or even wider), meeting the requirements of precise positioning and slow-speed hoisting. This particularly enables extremely low, stable creeping speeds for hoisting mechanisms.

Multi-Speed Operation: Multiple fixed speed levels can be preset and quickly switched via buttons on the control panel.


2. Hardware Components:

Core Component - Inverter: Typically, a high-performance vector-controlled inverter (especially important for hoisting mechanisms) or a V/F-controlled inverter (suitable for both trolleys and cranes) is used. The power rating must match the power of the driven motor and the load characteristics of the crane (hoisting inverters must consider heavy load and overload capabilities).


3. Input/Output Reactors:

Input Reactors: Suppress harmonic pollution from the inverter to the grid, protecting the inverter from grid voltage fluctuations and surges.

Output Reactors (DV/DT Reactors or Sine Wave Filters): Protect motor insulation, reduce voltage spikes and electromagnetic interference caused by high-frequency PWM pulses during long cable transmission, and reduce motor noise and heat generation.
