A colonoscope is a fiberoptic endoscope commonly used in clinical practice. It can be inserted retrograde down through the anus to examine the rectum, sigmoid colon, descending colon, transverse colon, ascending colon and cecum, as well as a small section of the small intestine (ileocecal end) connected to the large intestine.
