Clearmesh / Aviary Mesh
Knitted wire mesh can be used as a strong, lightweight and flexible barrier for animal and bird enclosures.
Unlike heavy rigid barriers, such as woven or welded mesh, the
unique energy absorbing properties of lightweight knitted wire mesh
provide a forgiving containment media that minimises injury in the
unlikely event of a collision. Knitted enclosure mesh is
manufactured using fine diameter wires, in virtually any colour,
providing superb aesthetic qualities for unobstructed lines of
sight. The unique low weight:high strength ratio combined with the
elasticity of knitted wire mesh allows total design and creative
freedom when designing aviaries and animal enclosures.
These properties render knitted mesh as the preferred material used in a multitude of both large and small installations around the world, including the world’s largest free flight aviary at Birds of Eden in Plettenburg Bay in South Africa.
Clearmesh / Aviary Mesh
Our ClearMesh (also known as zoo mesh or aviary mesh) is suitable
for indoor and outdoor aviaries or animal enclosures. This has
become a very popular product for both consumers and
zoo’s/sanctuaries not only across the country but also across the
world. ClearMesh can safely house birds, small mammals, and some
reptiles.
Lightweight and flexible
Our aviary mesh is extremely lightweight and flexible, making it
easy to install and shape to any custom aviary or animal enclosure
design. Installation couldn’t be simpler, you can either staple the
mesh to a wooden frame or tie it to a metal structure. Whether
you’re a beginner at DIY or a firm expert, we’re confident that you
will have no issues installing the mesh at home.
Stainless Steel Aviary Mesh
Stainless steel is not just ideal for outdoor use but also
completely safe for your bird! It is known that galvanised steel, a
popular material for aviary mesh, can cause zinc poisoning in
birds, so it is extremely important to ensure that your mesh is
made from stainless steel. We offer stainless steel grade 304 as a
standard, however 316 can be used for enclosures that are closer to
the seaside.
Stainless steel is also anti-corrosive and all-weather resistant making it perfect for outdoor use. Once installed, the mesh should not need replacing for at least another 15 years, if not more!
Near Invisible
The most unique point about our aviary mesh is that it is nearly
invisible to the human eye due to the knitted looping pattern.
Welded metal is most often used for aviaries; however, the chunky
wire gauges often make visibility quite limited.
Once installed, the mesh can also be spray painted either black or green to increase visibility even further. We do not currently offer this service ourselves as the paint layer will corrode and need re-doing every few months or so.
